In 2008 after returning from years of living in Thailand, Leah started her own non-profit organization, training survivors of human trafficking in Southeast Asia in jewelry making as a means to support themselves as they healed, learned new skills and made a new life for themselves. Freedom Stones, began to sell jewelry made by these survivors and later grew and merged with another organization which still serves these same women and children to this day. Currently you can learn the same skills through classes in various beading, jewelry crocheting, and wire work with a collection of beads from all over the world including precious and semiprecious stone beads, recycled glass beads handmade in Ghana, and other vintage recycled treasures awaiting your creativity.
